The Scene

The 12th Anniversary Mask Project Gala will bring more than 1,100 people face to face with the star-studded collection of masks at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. The interactive evening benefiting The Denver Hospice will feature a live and silent auction of the top masks, dining, and other wonderful moments to give meaning for guests' support of The Denver Hospice.

Here's just a snapshot of what you'll be supporting by bidding on masks and attending The Mask Project Gala:

• Each day, The Denver Hospice has 800 patients under our care in a nine-county area - a significant increase since the last Mask Project. Most of our patients choose to die at home in peace surrounded by their loved ones.
• In 2008, The Denver Hospice cared for nearly 3,000 hospice patients and their families and is expected to see a dramatic increase in patient care as we head into 2010.
• Our Pathways Palliative Care program cared for 1,000 patients struggling with advanced life-threatening illness, a dramatic 47% growth in 2008.
• 100 patients in our care each day are military veterans. We are the preferred hospice provider of the Veterans Administration.
• The Denver Hospice Grief Center, which is open to everyone in the community whether they are involved in hospice or not, served more than 5,000 adults in 2008.
• Our Footprints Children's Grief Center helped 257 children and teens through their grief and helps schools with grief education.
• The Denver Hospice and its Inpatient Care Center never turns anyone away for lack of ability to pay.
