Currently, over 150 volunteers are lending their time and energy to The Mask Project. These special volunteers are having a direct impact and we appreciate their dedication! This year’s volunteer opportunities for The Mask Project are now full. Who We Are: Our mission is to encircle those facing advanced illness with unprecedented levels of comfort, compassion and expertise. Founded in 1978, The Denver Hospice is Colorado’s largest hospice, a national leader in hospice and palliative care, and a not-for-profit organization. We believe in the power of an interdisciplinary approach and volunteers are an integral part of that team.
Who You Are – the “Who”: Volunteers serve in a variety of ways, in both clinical and non-clinical volunteer roles. The current opportunity (The Mask Project 2012) is non-clinical in nature and requires volunteers be reliable, prompt, friendly, and positive and to have an ability to attend one Mask Training session in March 2012, to stand for 1-2 hours at a time, and to work well with others. I’m happy to share with you that The Mask Project volunteers will have priority for the limited number of seats in general Hospice Training offered this summer!
The Mask Project – the “What”: The Denver Hospice’s premiere event is produced every other year in partnership with Cherry Creek Shopping Center. This charity art auction features custom-created masks by celebrities, sports figures, politicians, artists, and recognized members of the community. For more information, visit www.themaskproject.org.
Time Commitment – the “When”: The minimum time commitment to volunteer for The Mask Project is approximately ten hours (to be completed over multiple days from March through May 2012). This time commitment includes activities such as attending a three-hour training and offering volunteer coverage for at least two shifts at the event gallery. Twelve training dates and over three hundred gallery shifts make it easy to find time that fits into your already-busy schedule (daytime, evening, and weekend opportunities exist). While ten hours is the minimum volunteer commitment, we extend a special invitation to those volunteers who wish to offer more volunteer time!
Location – the “Where”: The vast majority of volunteering will occur at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center located at 3000 East 1st Avenue in Denver, CO 80206. A limited number of volunteer opportunities will be available at The Denver Hospice main office located at 501 South Cherry Street in Denver, CO 80246.
Impact – the “Why”: Over the years, The Denver Hospice has cared for over 50,000 patients and families at a most critical time, at the end of life. And we do this - provide hospice and palliative care - regardless of a patient and family’s ability to pay. Since its inception, The Mask Project has helped raise awareness and over $4 million dollars for this special work and you have the opportunity to be an integral part of our success!
